Hathras Stampede: 110 people died and many others were injured in a stampede during a satsang organised in Sikandrarao area of Hathras district in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday (2 July). This tragic incident took place during a satsang in Pulrai village on Tuesday afternoon. Eyewitnesses are making different claims about the accident.
It is being told that all around the incident spot, there were piles of dead bodies and the cries of the injured were heard. In such a situation, we will tell you what happened during the satsang that the venue turned into a place of mourning.
Important points of Hathras stampede
- According to Hathras DM Ashish Kumar, Bhole Baba’s congregation was being held in Sikandrarao of Hathras and when the congregation was ending, it was very humid, so a stampede broke out when people were coming out.
- According to eyewitnesses, as soon as the satsang ended, Bhole Baba’s car left. During this, people present there ran to touch his feet and a stampede broke out. After this, many people present there got buried under the debris and some people started climbing over them.
- The DM said that permission for this event was given by the SDM and it was a private event, in which security personnel were deployed for security and law and order, but the internal arrangements were in the hands of the organizers.
- The Yogi Adityanath government has formed a committee regarding this accident. Along with this, the central and state governments have also announced compensation. It has been announced that financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each will be given to the family members and Rs 50,000 each will be given to the injured.
- CM yogi adityanath Expressing grief over the incident, he has directed the officials to expedite the relief work. He has also directed to form a team under the leadership of Additional Director General of Police (Agra) and Commissioner (Aligarh) to investigate the causes of the accident.
- CM Yogi said, “The incident is extremely sad and heart-rending. Bhole Baba’s satsang has been organized in local villages by local organizers. When the preacher of the satsang was coming down from the stage, suddenly a crowd of devotees was going there to touch him and this accident happened there when the sevadars tried to stop them.”
- President Draupadi Murmu Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the death of people in the stampede as heart-rending and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. Apart from this, Prime Minister Modi expressed grief over the death of people in the stampede during the satsang ceremony and assured all possible help to the victims.
- On the Hathras stampede incident, Aligarh Commissioner Chaitra V. said that the death toll is 116 and the number of injured is 18. Arrangements for treatment have been made and investigation is underway.
- Aligarh IG Shalabh Mathur said that an FIR is being registered regarding the accident. An FIR will be lodged against the organizers. Prima facie it appears that more people have come than the number of people for whom permission was sought.
- Leaders of many parties including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, MP Rahul Gandhi, SP President Akhilesh Yadav have expressed grief over the Hathras incident. They wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. Along with this, they have also asked questions to the Uttar Pradesh government regarding the accident.
